Front End Developer Intern


Are you passionate about building front end JavaScript applications? Do you like writing high quality code? Are you an enthusiastic individual looking to help develop applications used worldwide by thousands of users and organizations?

The Esri R&D Center-Zurich is seeking skilled and creative interns for the development of innovative GIS web applications and tools leveraging the ArcGIS JavaScript API. This is a three-month full-time paid internship with one week of vacation. Authorization to work in Zurich, Switzerland required.


  • Work with designers to implement the next generation of Esri 3D web
  • Use JavaScript to develop engaging front end applications and web components
  • Collaborate with other developers throughout the development process including design and code reviews


  • Student or recent graduate of bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a degree in a similar field
  • Experience coding with JavaScript and HTML/CSS
  • Minimum of one year of experience in software development in commercial or open source projects
  • Self-initiative, responsible, self-controlled, and self-motivating
  • Good verbal and written skills in English 

Recommended Qualifications:  

  • Experience with TypeScript, NodeJS, Grunt, and other state-of-the-art web development technologies
  • Experience with GIS and web mapping APIs and applications
  • Proficient developing and maintaining large single page web applications
