Job Description

The Senior Accountant is a key position within our Accounting department. The expectations for the role are to demonstrate strong and effective management over the monthly closing and reporting process specific to his or her responsibilities.

The Senior Accountant will assist in the accounting and internal reporting of the Company. This individual will manage the month-end responsibilities of the Company, including but not limited to club operating expenses, general & administrative and corporate expenses as well as the monthly executive summary for investor review. The position will manage all new and existing capital leases. The position will be involved in the roll-out of the new general ledger accounting software and make recommendations on process enhancement. The individual will also be responsible for managing to the accounting books and P&L for the Company's latest venture, Equinox Hotel.

The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company. Qualified candidates will bring a strong knowledge of GAAP, proven leadership ability, excellent communication skills and strong record of process improvements.

This individual will approach projects with a flexible, innovative, service-oriented approach, and a strong emphasis on system-based (rather than people-based) solutions.

This position will report directly to the Manager of Accounting at the Company's corporate headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the month-end close process including the recording of payroll, club general & administrative expenses, corporate expense to the general ledger
  • Research, development and implement strategic based processes to improve accounting and month-end close responsibilities
  • Manage accounting for capital leases
  • Prepare the monthly Executive Summary write-up with a strong working knowledge of the Company's performance and in a professional business writing style
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financials are appropriately stated
  • Validate the accuracy and completeness of internal financial reports
  • Support the transactions and fluctuations of the P&L accounts with robust variance analysis
  • Assist with quarterly reviews and year-end audit
  • Assist with corporate expenses and preparation of various supporting documents for the executives.
  • Respond to inquiries from the field on a timely basis. Must be able to understand the intent of the users of the financial statements. Provide information which is meaningful to the users.
  • Prepare ratios and other types of analytics to assist users of the financial statements.
  • Prepare various schedules and supporting documentation for the external audit
  • Able to work and partner effectively with other departments, such as Accounts Payable, Treasury, Payroll, Real Estate, Retail, and Procurement
  • Assist and support financial planning and analysis group in preparation of annual budgets

Qualifications
