Epsilon, AdAge’s #1 Ranked U.S. Agency, is seeking a dynamic Director, Strategic Business Consulting with a background in insurance and financial services to work with Fortune 500 clients in the insurance industry. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, experience design, and marketing transformation engagements and strategically guiding implementations of marketing technologies.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead efforts for client engagements with the following expectations:

  • Develops best in class, quantitatively-derived and insight-based omni-channel contact strategies hands-on through the use of segmentation, targeting, channels, offers, messaging, testing, reporting, and analysis. Leads and oversee the optimal contact strategy to determine “who gets what, when and how.”
  • Provides strategic leadership for the CRM team to deliver multi-channel CRM programs to maximize customer value and brand engagement. Establishes key results reporting KPI criteria and continually optimizes the CRM strategy based on test and control learnings
  • Apply CRM/CX best practices and experience to clients in insurance. Speak the language, understand the business implications.
  • Apply knowledge of the insurance Industry landscape to identify marketing trends and opportunities for insurance clients
  • Provide business development support to sales team by providing insurance thought leadership and product domain expertise
  • Work with peers to lead, design, & deliver consulting engagements
  • Lead a team of strategic consultants and work day-to-day on client service engagements, typically with regular visits on client premises
  • Consult and drive clients through appropriate engagement models including optimization, insight and strategic design, applying and leveraging multi-channel marketing industry expertise and customer experience best practices
  • Understand the financial aspects of measuring and managing customer marketing investments and make recommendations to achieve clients’ financially-driven goals
  • Work with internal cross-functional teams providing leadership into the creation and management of marketing initiatives including customer acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies with a focus on crawl / walk / run adoption
  • Identify, populate, and leverage strategic frameworks and develop real-time contact strategies hands-on through the use of segmentation, targeting, channels, offers, messaging, testing, reporting, and analysis with a focus on digital channels
  • Describe marketing technology and facilitate the sell-in and adoption of new marketing technologies to support marketing outcomes and business results

The candidate “must have”:

  • Deep experience in insurance industry, specifically in retail property & casualty and life segments
  • 2+ years working at a major U.S. insurance carrier in a marketing function
  • Experience designing and deploying marketing strategies including lead nurturing, acquisition, onboarding, and retention, ideally within a real-time decisioning environment
  • Strong grasp of digital marketing trends and key consulting frameworks and concepts
  • Strong consulting and solution selling skills. Ability to lead consulting engagements managing all key external and internal stakeholders with strong project management skills
  • Strong grasp of digital marketing trends and key consulting frameworks and concepts
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools and comfortable navigating system architecture diagrams
  • Strong awareness of how systems and data integrate with contact plans, and capable of determining systems and data requirements for a given marketing strategy
  • Structured thinking and the ability to facilitate working sessions and brainstorming exercises among clients and peers across all levels of an organization

In addition, the ideal candidate would also have many of the qualities below:

  • 2+ years with a big 5 consulting firm
  • Experience with direct marketing in adjacent retail banking areas including card, deposit, and lending
  • Proactive self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to direct a team on multiple concurrent projects, and ensure follow-through while delivering high quality to Epsilon clients
  • Leader, collaborator, and team-oriented
  • Strong project planning and project management skills desired
  • Track record for growing client businesses and getting results
  • Strong oral and written communicator; create high quality documents and deliverables using Microsoft Office and other applications as needed. Ability to synthesize complex concepts in simple terms
  • A background in using frameworks and methodical steps to identify workstream approaches
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfortable manipulating data to demonstrate visual trends in meaningful ways
  • Familiar with analytical techniques in support of multi-channel marketing including profiling, segmentation, analysis, and modeling
  • Experienced in identifying and documenting business requirements for new marketing programs
  • Familiar with best of breed marketing tools including social media monitoring, business intelligence, campaign management, digital analytics, content management, and offer management

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required and an MBA or master’s degree equivalent is preferred
  • Insurance marketing within a carrier; Financial Services marketing experience a plus
  • Management consulting expertise
  • First-hand experience in communications roadmap development and implementation
  • Multi-channel delivery platform experience
  • Management of CRM programs across multiple communications channels
  • Expert-level software knowledge including Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
