Developer, 2 (Java)

Responsibilities:


• Build relationships with your peers, business users, and internal and external clients
• Drive and influence future business opportunities for supported systems
• Deliver error free, well tested code according to department standards
• Support in designing detailed specifications for efficient programming according to department standards
• Provide on-call technical support for applications and systems in a normal rotation, as needed
• Maintain systems documentation
• Deliver excellence in all aspects of the role as a model associate
• Support the Lead developer in mentoring less experienced team members
• Effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks
• Learn new technologies and stay informed of industry trends

Qualifications:


• 4-7 years of development experience with J2EE technologies (java, html) required

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems required; equivalent technical training and experience considered.

Additional Knowledge & Skills:


• JSF and Spring framework is preferred; All others considered (ie: Struts, Ajax)
• Experience with client-side JavaScript libraries and frameworks (e.g. Angular, Bootstrap, React, jQuery)
• Basic understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 and XHTML
• Basic understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms (e.g. Sass, LESS)
• MyEclipse is the preferred IDE experience, but all others considered
• WebLogic application server preferred, but Web Sphere considered
• Basic understanding of versioning control systems (e.g. Git, Subversion)
• Knowledge of relational databases/data layer required; experience with MS-SQL a plus but DB2 is preferred
• Analytical skills for problem solving, and ability to think creatively for solutions/ideas for perpetual improvement is a must in this fast paced environment
• Experience on host mainframe interaction using java enabled CICS and COBOL for services is a real advantage
• Understanding of connectivity logic for IP sockets is an advantage
• Understanding of network proxies, SSL, and general packet transport is a plus
• Excellent communication and presentation skills required
• Basic understanding of task automation tools/toolkits and build scripts (e.g. Jenkins, Maven, Ant)
• Experience with Atlassian products such as JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket
