Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AIX Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supporting IBM AIX environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of mission-critical systems. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of IBM AIX operating systems and associated hardware within Ensono's managed services and client environments.

What You Will Do:

• Design, install, configure, and maintain IBM AIX operating systems and IBM Power Systems hardware.
• Implement and manage logical partitioning (LPARs), virtualization (VIOS), and storage configurations (SAN/NAS).
• Perform system upgrades, patch management, preventive maintenance, and performance tuning.
• Monitor system health, availability, and performance using standard tools and dashboards.
• Troubleshoot issues and provide advanced technical support for AIX environments, including 24×7 support and incident response.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for system administration tasks (shell scripting, Python, etc.).
• Ensure system security and compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and hardening recommendations.
• Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support business requirements and dependencies.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery and backup strategies, including participation in DR testing and validation.
• Document system configurations, changes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Participate in Change Management processes and scheduled maintenance windows.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
• Escalate OS issues with vendors as needed and coordinate with client teams.
• Support clustered server environments, including configuration, maintenance, and cluster switchover testing.

What You Will Need:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with IBM AIX administration in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge and experience of IBM Power Systems hardware, LPARs, VIOS, and SAN/NAS storage management.
• Experience in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python).
• Experience with backup configuration and monitoring, and clustered server environments.
• Familiarity with Security Best Practices, compliance frameworks, and OS hardening.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients.
• Ability to work in a 24×7 support environment, including participation in on-call rotations.

Other considerations

• IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - AIX.
• Knowledge of other UNIX/Linux platforms.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $70,000 to $112,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, include an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
