Senior Financial Accountant, EMEA


Reporting into the Regional Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant for EMEA is a newly created role with responsibility for financial and management accounting duties for the £100m-turnover UK Group. The position is control-orientated and ensures compliance with local and US GAAP accounting requirements in the recording and reporting of financial transactions for the entities in the UK group including overseas subsidiaries and delivery of on time, compliant statutory financial statements, whilst ensuring the financial health of the UK Group by supporting cashflow planning and working capital management.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience of creating and implementing complex accounting matters
  • An excellent understanding of accountancy procedures and principles with significant FRS102 experience as a fundamental
  • Demonstrable experience of PQE CIMA/ACCA/ACA/ICAEW
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider UK & global finance team, and an offshore shared finance service center
  • Strong experience in management reporting and excellent communication skills to be able to present results to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent general IT user skills - Excel, Office, working knowledge of Workday, Adaptive and Salesforce desirable
  • Positive, driven and a natural collaborator
  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties, work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key team member in statutory audits, producing technical inputs, liaison with the auditors, response to sample requests and ensuring on-time filing of accounts in line with local requirements
  • Ensure the region is 'audit ready' through due preparation for the annual financial audits and production of the required schedules and reconciliations in advance of the audits
  • Provide inputs to the global tax director to support the production of Tax returns
  • Produce local GAAP compliant monthly management accounts (profit and loss and balance sheet), highlighting and communicating key drivers of performance to the Regional Financial Controller
  • Support the management of working capital to ensure liquidity in the region by
    • Providing inputs to produce the weekly cashflow forecast and highlighting funding requirements to Group Treasury
    • Attending the weekly collections call and make recommendations / approve actions to collect payment from late payers
    • As required, approving weekly supplier and expense payments in line with the availability of cash
  • Provide cover for the monthly payroll administration process, including the handling of standard payroll amendments, and any other adjustments required, to ensure that all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Team member for the annual R&D claim process with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the R&D claim
  • Assist with system integrations for new acquisitions
