About the opportunity

Higher education customers are transforming to modern campuses while leveraging technology and solutions to enable student success. To help catalyze this transformation we are looking for a Technical Fellow to join our R&D organization. In this critical role, you will help define the strategy and architecture within a complex application systems environment with multiple products, integration points, and technology stacks. This is a highly visible role within where you will have an opportunity to influence the capabilities and scalability of an enterprise solution within our company.

Where you will make an impact
  • Driving architectural vision, requirements and overall design of an enterprise-level solution
  • Collaborating with Product Management, Common Architecture and the global Technical Fellow community to develop solution architecture
  • Researching broader trends and identifying opportunities to apply emerging technology to deliver disruptive solutions to higher education
  • Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
  • Defining and ensuring achievement of non-functional requirements (NFRs)
  • Driving a quality-first mindset throughout the org, for both existing and new solutions
  • Developing proof of concept solutions to validate market and customer requirements and enable data-driven decisions
  • Defining the architecture and roadmap to support a high-performance and scalable solution with a minimal footprint
  • Developing key modules / components to meet technical specifications
  • Help to continuously raise the technical bar for the R&D organization
What you will bring
  • 10+ years hands-on experience in relational and non-relational data stores
  • 10+ years hands-on experience in object-oriented design and development
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in architecting, building and maintaining scalable, performant, secure cloud solutions
  • Solid working knowledge of ORM frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with cloud tools, services and technologies
  • Solid working knowledge of Agile CI/CD tools and practices (build/release, Git, pipelines, scripting etc)
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance automation frameworks and tools, and agile testing best practices (e.g TDD)
  • BS Computer Science or similar degree; MS degree preferred
  • Results focused with a strong bias toward thoughtful action, developing appropriate metrics to drive technical decisions
  • Comfortable with working at a product level as well as thinking at an org level, across products
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and types of audiences
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and delivering in a complex environment
  • Independent, self-motivated, risk-taker, with an ability to influence
  • Ability to help define software development project plans including scoping, estimating, scheduling, and implementation
  • A passion for improving existing systems while driving a long term future technical vision
  • Experience working with global teams and stakeholders, and with a diverse set of Tech Fellows
  • Experience working with Product Mgrs in guiding, defining and prioritizing features and NFRs
  • Passionate about mentoring, guiding and building the next generation of top class technical architects and engineers
  • Any experience with the higher Ed space would be a strong plus
