Summer Activities Intern

Activities Intern
EF International Language Centers

Brighton, MA

Synopsis:

  • Do you like having fun?
  • Do you like making sure other people are having fun?
  • Do you like meeting new people?

If so, then you might be the ideal Activities Intern for the EF International Language Center in Boston.

The Role
The Activities Intern will work approximately 25-30 hours per week, during the day, evening, and weekends over the summer. The position creates and produces a wide variety of events and activities for students: everything from intramural sports to museum outings to beach trips.

As an Activities Intern at EF, you have the opportunity to work with a highly diverse student population and a high-energy staff. The position both provides and requires great flexibility and entails wearing many hats including those of event coordinator, role model, counselor, and policy enforcer to name a few. In addition, you may be asked to assist in other roles throughout the school such as receptionist or host family recruiter. You will not be asked to get coffee. Community development is important in the position, and the Activities Intern should have a strong desire to provide support to the student body and to help make our international students feel at home here on campus and in Boston.

This is such a great job for the right person – we are essentially paying them to have fun with 16-25 year-olds. Interacting with these students and introducing them to the city of Boston can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Candidates need to be energetic and extroverted. Successful candidates in this position could transition to a full-time role at EF in the future.

The school is located in Brighton, Massachusetts and has a student body of approximately 700-1200 students over the summer. You would have the amazing chance to get to know and work with an incredible population of international students. We have students from over 50 different countries and ranging in age from 16-65. The majority of our students are between the ages of 16-25.

Requirements of the Position

  • Prior Experience working with college students
  • Dedicated to ensuring excellent customer service
  • Computer skills required and experience with social media preferred
  • Proficiency in foreign languages and/or travel experience required
  • Flexibility: the willingness to roll-up one’s sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • A patient, positive, upbeat attitude
  • Able to quickly learn new procedures and tasks
  • Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
  • Organization and leadership skills – candidates might need to lead 100 students on a tour of Boston, so they need to have the command and presence to make students follow and listen to them
