Role description

Working hours: 08.30 – 17.30

Five days per week (including some weekends)

  • Holiday entitlement 25 days per annum plus bank holidays
  • Salary £20,600 per annum
  • Reports to the Campus Manager

Duties include:

  • Performing minor repairs and maintenance
  • Dealing with external contractors
  • Maintaining & replenishing supplies of maintenance stock
  • Making daily and on-going checks of areas
  • Basic plumbing, decorating & paintwork
  • Basic garden maintenance
  • Prioritizing tasks appropriately
  • Dealing with other general maintenance/caretaker duties as required

Qualifications and competencies:

  • Basic skills in plumbing, decorating, gardening, general building work & DIY
  • Awareness of general health & safety issues at work

Responsibilities:

  • Make daily and on-going checks of areas to establish what work is required
  • Prioritize tasks appropriately, taking health & safety concerns into account at all times.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance where possible to a high standard of finish
  • Report requirements for and liaise with external contractors where reg. building/repair work.
  • Maintain & replenish supplies of maintenance stock, e.g. light bulbs, batteries, tools etc.
  • Check furnishings regularly for any adjustments or repairs required
  • Maintenance of boiler rooms ensuring they are clear of debris or unsafe items running well
  • Regular testing of fire alarm & emergency lighting equipment
  • Decorating & paintwork as required
  • Furniture assembly
  • Move furniture/other items around the site as required
  • Basic garden maintenance such as lawn mowing, weed clearance & tidying
  • Sweep drive & paths and clearing litter from grounds, grit paths in winter
  • Check all light fittings & desk lamps and replace bulbs as required
  • Basic plumbing (dealing with blocked toilets/drains, bleeding radiators, drain checks etc.)
  • Perform regular safety on fire equipment
  • Perform regular risk assessments of buildings & grounds, notifying line manager of any concerns
  • Assist with unexpected cleaning if required when cleaners are off site
  • Ensure all school areas & grounds are clear of rubbish etc.
  • Other general maintenance/caretaker duties as required
  • Respond to emergency call outs out of working hours if necessary
  • Tasks and responsibilities may vary
