Academic Manager

EF is an internationally recognised institution, with schools located all over the world.  EF International Language Campus Dublin is located in the beautiful Donnybrook neighbourhood with a friendly and experienced team and an exciting, energised atmosphere.

The main role of the Academic Manager is to oversee the academic department and implement course programs to ensure student satisfaction.  The role calls for flexibility, organisational skills, and the desire to keep on top of new teaching methodologies and initiatives, particularly pertaining to technology. Specific duties include:


  • Recruit, induct, observe and develop new teaching staff with the appropriate experience and qualifications
  • Provide ongoing professional development programmes for teachers e.g. training, observations, leading meetings etc
  • Carry out and oversee academic staff appraisals, and manage staff workload allocation including timetable planning
  • Maintain and develop teaching tools and resources
  • Lead regular teachers' meetings
  • Ensure that EF standards and expectations are met and exceeded on a daily basis
  • Have a positive impact on the student experience at all times, including class allocation according to level, age and nationality and producing timely, appropriate feedback and reports
  • Managing student queries or concerns in a professional, caring and enthusiastic manner
  • Oversight of the Assistant Academic Manager
  • Providing a supportive and professional academic support service to all students
  • Teaching as and when required and appropriate


  • DELTA qualified or equivalent; undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Experience in management of people and programmes
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate both staff and students
  • Strong customer-service focus with a commitment to the highest possible standards
  • A strategic thinker and planner, able to prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent communicator, with ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Resourceful
  • Working to deadlines whilst remaining flexible at all times
  • Able to handle difficult situations with ease and remain calm under pressure
