Chief Program Officer

Position Description
Education Pioneers (EP) is looking to hire its first Chief Program Officer (CPO) to provide strong programmatic leadership by casting and executing a bold vision and strategy, developing a high-performing program team and strong culture, and overseeing excellent execution.

EP seeks an extraordinary CPO to dramatically increase the organization’s impact by leading our execution of the work to design and deliver a great user experience for EP’s talent and Partners while revitalizing growth and innovation at EP to meet EP’s long-term goals. The CPO will be a key member of EP’s National Leadership Team and will directly manage a team of ~4-6 managers who oversee ~20+ team members, including the following functions: strategy, product, and analytics, Fellows recruitment, admissions and placement, learning programs, and career advancement across the EP network.

This is a full-time exempt position, ideally based out of one of EP’s main offices (Boston or Oakland), though other EP regional offices will be considered (Chicago, New York, Houston, Washington DC) which requires 30% travel (based on location). The CPO will report to our CEO.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10-15+ years of relevant work experience
Strong track record of success, preferably in recruitment, admissions, and/or a learning & development function
* Demonstrated experience and success leading and managing a diverse team to successful outcomes

Additional Qualifications:
Strong skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects resulting in measurable success and program growth and innovation
Significant experience leading a high performing team (preferably based in multiple locations), with an ability to provide clear direction and hold staff accountable for ambitious, attainable goals
Strength in coaching individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility and performance
A demonstrated commitment to and experience working to further cultural competence in an organization, with a specific focus on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion
An ability to lead and manage change in a highly collaborative environment
Superior oral and written communication skills
Exceptional planning, organizing, and prioritizing skills in order to manage a diverse workload, multiple demands, and deadline sensitive projects
Ability to travel 30% (most frequently to Oakland and/or Boston)

Develop and execute a bold and innovative vision and strategy for EP’s programs

Assess EP’s current program vision, strategy and priorities, identifying the most promising opportunities to improve our existing offerings
Create a consistently positive, valuable experience for our EP users (prospects, talent and partners)
Define and drive EP’s future program vision, strategy and priorities to put EP on the path to 20%+ annual growth, starting in FY18 in the total number of new Education Pioneers leaders developed through existing and new programmatic offerings
Institute strong practices and disciplines to increase the amount of organizational learning and share/discuss these insights with key internal and external stakeholders
* Pilot at least one new innovation each year starting in FY18 that results in valuable organizational learning and has the potential to drive significant long-term growth and impact

Effectively lead, manage and develop a diverse, high performing team
Lead and manage an exceptional program team of 4-6 direct reports and a 20+ total staff (located in multiple offices across the country) that designs and delivers a high quality overall experience for talent and partners
Focus the team on providing users with an exceptional EP experience that is reflected in a 50+ Net Promoter score for pioneers, partners and the program team
Ensure staff members are achieving excellence, leveraging their individual strengths, collaborating effectively and actively participating in their professional growth through well-crafted and executed professional development plans
Build a strong learning culture that embraces continuous and rapid testing, learning and innovation across EP programs and pilots

Oversee exceptional programmatic execution to operate at scale
Identify critical operational priorities, oversee the building of effective systems and processes, and ensure strong handoffs across key work streams to strengthen our core programs
Leverage digital technology to augment the ability of our team to deliver a great user experience at scale
* Advance strong programmatic external partnerships with best-in-class organizations and companies to grow and accelerate EP’s impact

Partner and work collaboratively as a senior organizational leader
Build trusting relationships, balance inquiry and advocacy in communications, exemplify teamwork, and model EP’s core values to achieve the common objectives of the organization.
Collaborate effectively with the Chief Regional Officer to ensure that regional teams are able to engage in successful business development to meet regional impact and revenue goals
Influence, align, and inspire other senior leaders and their teams to advance important and interdependent work required to meet programmatic goals
Support a highly effective work culture that embodies Education Pioneers’ core values
* Actively participate and/or lead cross-organization initiatives aligned with our organization wide goals as a member of the National Leadership Team (NLT)

Compensation & Benefits:
