As the leader of six backend engineers, and rapidly growing team, you will direct the development of the core platform that powers the ecobee ecosystem and help develop the expanding team of high performers.
Here, you’ll be solving some of the most difficult challenges in modern software engineering. Our infrastructure connects hundreds of thousands of devices and handles hundreds of millions of requests per day. 4 9's uptime, low latency responses, and security are our mission. We encourage the freedom to investigate and evaluate new technologies to solve these problems. You will be experienced in low latency, high-performance, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed software system challenges, having built similar systems at scale. You’ll take charge of any required troubleshooting and writing of code that is performant, maintainable, and concise within the full software development lifecycle.
Your strong communication and leadership skills will be used to collaborate with technical and non-technical cross functional teams as well as to attract top-tier talent to join the company. As a result, your input will have a significant impact on society, our company and our products that are used by hundreds of thousands of users daily.
- 8+ years of hands-on application development experience
- 3+ years of experience leading a team of engineers
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong experience architecting and developing backend services
- Strong experience using modern Java libraries and frameworks
- Strong experience in recruiting top tier engineering teams
- Love of open source and a strong desire to play with new technologies
