Eaton's Electrical Sector division is currently seeking a Senior Embedded LINUX Software Engineer (Linux). This position is based at our Raleigh, NC Location. This position offers a Hybrid work schedule!

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83997.0 - $123195.6 a year.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer LINUX, you will implement new features within our Linux-based embedded platform. You will work directly with the global Linux platform team (US & India) to accelerate and support product teams with their adoption of the Eaton Linux platform.

In this role you will:

• Implement new features within our Linux based embedded platform. These contributions will help support product features as well as extending and updating the platform.
• Focus on software development for product applications (eg: Power Meters, UPS etc) as well as gateway edge devices.
• Write test automation to prove reliable operation during unit, integration, and nightly regression testing.
• Collaborate with and support internal customers (product teams) and complement the support offered from existing team members in US and India.
• Provide updates to team members including project status, successes, and challenges

Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited institution
• 4+ years of progressive experience in the development of embedded software for network-enabled products.
• 4+ years of experience developing C++ embedded applications in a Linux environment.
• Full life-cycle development experience
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Raleigh, NC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GO Lang, Python, and Boost Libraries such as ASIO and Unit Test.
• Experience with Industrial IP protocols: Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, BACnet
• Experience developing toolkits / SDKs used in diverse applications
• Understanding of microservices
• Demonstrable experience using Eclipse IDE or VS code in Linux.
• Relevant experience designing in-app test functionality or appropriate test APIs.
• Experience with Linux network device security, developing with secure network protocols, participating in and performing security audits.
• Experience working with global teams.
• Experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools
• Experience working in a scrum team
• Experience in EdgeX foundation services
• Experience to modifying Linux setups to support new boards and peripherals

Skills:

Position Criteria

• 4+ years' work experience developing in C, C++, and/or other high-level languages
• Full understanding of key computer science concepts (Data Structures, Algorithms,etc...)
• Good knowledge of IP networking protocols (TCP/UDP/IP)
• Experience using object oriented design patterns
• Experience developing embedded Linux firmware & device drivers
• Understanding of Linux Kernel, BSP and toolchains
• Has built and/or configured 3rd party Linux packages (like Yocto)
• Experience developing unit tests
• Proficiency with configuration/change management processes and tools
• Understands cybersecurity considerations and counter measures
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts
• Strong problem solving and reasoning ability, exhibiting technical innovation and creative solutions
• Sharp analytical abilities and understanding of existing designs
• Technical Learning: Must demonstrate knowledge of current software development/engineering methodologies
