Regional Quality Manager

Kalamazoo, MI / Remote

Eaton's Vehicle Group Division (North America Region) is currently seeking a Division Quality Manager to join our team. This position can be based at the following Eaton locations: Galesburg, MI; Southfield, MI.

The Division Quality Manager will be the leader of the Quality function for Vehicle Group, North America. The primary function of this person is to drive Customer Satisfaction (external and internal) and Performance through functional leadership by defining, executing, and deploying the strategic Quality Plan for the plants, within the division. The Quality Manager is responsible for achieving established short and long-term goals for quality metrics for the division. This person is also responsible for leveraging the tools and processes of the Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS) within the operational sites to achieve continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness as measured through Eaton's prescribed metrics and standard assessment practices. The position provides functional support to Quality leaders in our Manufacturing Plants, consistent with the Eaton Quality Functional Excellence and the Eaton Leadership Model.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead our overall quality for Vehicle Group North America, managing both customer and manufacturing quality for US manufacturing facilities
  • Ensure the regional Plants comply with applicable Eaton, customer and industry-specific Quality requirements by conducting the necessary audits and assessments and determine system effectiveness
  • Manage customer quality
    • Deploy an effective employee communications strategy to provide updates on current business performance
    • Problem solving for known issues (with fast response)
    • Monitoring customer scorecards for quality
    • Strategic actions to implement error-proofing/controls PRIOR to customer quality issues (8Ds, assembly concerns, product failures, etc.)
    • Oversight to new program launches and proper quality controls at launch
  • Manage manufacturing quality (CONC, Non-Nettable, Internal PPM)
    • Provide support to the plants plants to drive CONC improvements (Scrap, warranty, maintenance), to drive Non-Nettable inventory improvements (reducing the amount of product on quality hold) and to drive internal PPM improvements - reduce the # of defects we are catching and prevent defects from occurring
  • Strategic approach to correcting manufacturing quality - quality/industry 4.0, etc.
  • Manage regional improvements in key quality metrics (ZMPD PPM, LMPD, on-time PPAP, etc.)
  • Responsible for Customer Satisfaction, assessments, communication, action plans, awards
  • Drive Improvement Plans as needed
  • Manage Plant 8Ds and Corrective Action Process to prevent Repeat Issues
  • Drive and Implement Quality Strategies to achieve Customer Satisfaction (Scrap reduction, RPFMEA, LPAs, SPC)
  • Manage Customer Requirements and support New Program launches
  • Ensure product changes align with Customer Requirements (Deviations, ECOs, SCRs)
  • Divisional Metrics: Warranty reduction, ISO/IATF Certification
  • Supplier Metrics: SPC, Pass Through Characteristics, Weak Detection, Touchpoints
  • Ensure Compliance to Special Processes (Heat Treat, Plating, Welding, etc.)
  • Manage High Severity Customer Quality Escape within region
  • Quality oversight for APQP (Phases 4-6) for ProLaunch NPD
  • Support definition of critical to quality elements of product/process
  • Mitigate risks associated with potential failures with Program Mgmt, APQP Engineer
  • Responsible to manage the development and competencies of the plant quality managers and direct reports
  • Ensure sufficient quality support to meet customer satisfaction requirements
  • Directly interface & engage Plant OpEx and quality managers to drive systems and quality practices improvement

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum 10 years of quality/manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of direct leadership experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must reside within 50 miles of one of the following Eaton locations: Galesburg, MI; Southfield, MI.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Engineering background preferred
