Maintenance Technician
Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician.
The hourly rate for this position is $30.00 per hour. The hours for this shift are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for executing the activities of maintenance, rearrangement and/or repair of all plant facilities, including buildings, grounds, building equipment and related assets in a safe and efficient manner.
Please note, certain duties performed by this role require this position to be subject to the guidelines of our Repair Station Certificate and are subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.
In this function you will:
• Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, and appropriate maintenance of building, building systems, peripheral structure, and electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment.
• Assist in the monitoring of building system(s) performance and recommend improvements.
• Assist/support in the movement of equipment, machinery, materials, and infrastructure at the site utilizing best safety practices required at the site.
• Be responsible to maintain spare parts inventory for repair of machinery and related equipment ensuring availability and proper storage. Including oils and greases used in maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Be involved in Continuous Improvement initiatives and/or site-related projects as needed. Keep informed of developments and trends affecting areas and responsibility and pro-actively promote change to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Prepare forms and necessary documents used in the disposal and shipment of hazardous materials, chemicals that exceed threshold in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local requirements. Order necessary supply of oils and greases used in maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Utilize the site's Preventive Maintenance program to schedule, track and complete assigned tasks for facility, grounds, and equipment. Also ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules and documentation standards.
• Assist in supporting/coordinating with third-party vendors for site-related facility/equipment projects and hosting these activities ensuring vendor aligns with site safety, quality and operational standards.
• Respond to and assist in addressing safety system and building automation notifications and emergencies. These may include afterhours, weekend, and holiday responses on occasion.

• Be an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) champion for assigned elements determined by the EHS Manager and action assigned EHS Standard Work
• Assist in the implementation of all applicable EHS aspects such that the site maintains compliance to all state, federal, and company requirements. Establish site goals and action plans for Energy, Water, and Waste Reduction.
• Assist/support all facility maintenance projects as assigned to achieve deliverables following a timeline and budget.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Must have a minimum 5 years of maintenance experience.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Grand Rapids MI to be considered.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with building automation systems and energy management tools.
• Knowledgeable in safety requirements such as but not limited to NFPA 70E, elevated work, hot work, Lockout/Tagout, and Powered Industrial Equipment.
• Welding experience
• Ability to work safely at elevated positions.
• Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environments preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities as assigned.
• Deploy effective Preventive Maintenance program for facility, ground, and equipment.
• Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification program in a related field (Facilities Maintenance, Machine Repair, HVAC Technology)
• OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification or other relevant credentials are a plus.
Skills:
Position Criteria:
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and comprehend operating and maintenance documents, machine/equipment prints, schematics, and procedures in English.
• Basic electrical understanding
• Basic problem solving skills
• Strong troubleshooting skills across HVAC controls, electrical systems, mechanical equipment and plumbing infrastructure.
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance crafts (including basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems, carpentry) sufficient to plan, supervise and successfully complete assigned function.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate equipment related to maintaining a facility.
• Knowledge and experience with utilizing preventive maintenance programs and computer systems/software including working knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
• Good communication skills that are professional and informational to communicate with facility customers (employees and leaders), vendors, management, and co-workers.
• Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective intra and inter-departmental relationships at all levels. Facilitate consensus solutions to effectively resolve problems and issues.
• Demonstrate leadership and planning abilities in completion of assigned responsibilities.
• This role may be required to perform the following tasks on limited, frequent, occasional, or seldom basis: repetitive lifting/carrying (up to 50 lbs.), pushing/pulling, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, and kneeling.
