Lead Mechanical Project Manager
Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Project Manager. The purpose of this position is to provide project management expertise in electrical, civil, structural and mechanical aspects of large, Design Build, Microgrid and Distributed Generation Projects. The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the overall management and execution of multiple Design Build projects. The SPM is charged with supporting the sales force and zone manager during the front end sales process to ensure a seamless transition from quote into execution
The expected annual salary range for this role is $108,749 - $159,499 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. What you'll do:
The Lead Projects Manager is responsible for the use of modern project management tools and techniques to execute projects related to the engineering, procurement, and construction of electrical power system modifications. Modernization projects will relate to the electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution industry with focus on complex turnkey electrical generation (conventional and renewables) and distribution projects These type of project entail significant Eaton equipment familiarity and service platforms around Eaton equipment. The Projects Manager will use his/her knowledge of industrial and utility power distribution equipment, power system engineering, substation design, & construction safety to deliver projects with a high degree of professionalism and safety. The Lead Projects Manager will have full responsibility of project and authority to complete his/her assigned project from inception to scope development, planning, execution, management of people and resources. He or she will have the discipline to create clear and achievable cost, quality, and schedule objectives and follow these objectives through to successful completion.
The Lead Projects Manager will also provide technical leadership to the district sales & service teams. Individual must be capable of self-managing and directing a team on awarded projects for electrical equipment, including working knowledge of mechanical designs around rotating equipment and generators in power generation facilities around the country.
Candidate must have a strong focus on customer satisfaction and a track record of successful project execution experience to deliver technical solution and proposals to customers. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with ability to be flexible to adjust to changing project conditions. Strong computer skills are required. Travel is required.
Essential functions include:
A. Supports proposal process with mechanical designs, solutions and written scopes of work.
B. Manages & maintains the commercial contract between Eaton and its customers.
C. Estimates, prepares, submits, and manages change orders between customer and Eaton
D. Manages and communicates the scope of work & responsibilities between Eaton's customers, Eaton's employees, & Eaton's suppliers / sub-contractors
E. Establishes, and manages the contract(s) between Eaton and its vendors & subcontractors
F. Plans, establishes, maintains, and regularly updates a project schedule on assigned projects
G. Manages communication, and distributes documentation between Eaton and its customers
H. Monitors, reports, and controls costs on assigned projects within estimated project margin
I. Reports, forecasts, and presents project financial activity to Eaton's management
J. Prepares, distributes, and follows through with project safety plan
J. Responsible for financial performance of project including profitability, project revenue, and cash flow
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering with eight (8) years project management experience OR Associates Degree in Engineering with ten (10) years project management experience
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Experience with Microsoft Project or Project Scheduling software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer qualification
- Working knowledge of NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA
- PMP Certified
- OSHA 30 Certification
- First Aid and CPR Trained
Skills:
Position Criteria:
- Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton's safety program and policies
- Periodically submit to background/drug screens as required by customers for on-site work
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera Scheduling software
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.
