PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager will play a critical role in executing processes to streamline workflows and reduce friction for the engineering team. This role will be a driving force of organization, transparency, and efficiency throughout the organization. You will keep tabs on all on-going engineering projects and initiatives and provide information to streamline any type of relevant decisions, such as priority shifts, and reorganizations. It will require a combination of project management, process optimization and execution skills. The ideal candidate is exceedingly resourceful, organized and flexible. This position will interface directly with the executive team and business function leaders while reporting into the CTO.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with project stakeholders to ensure project requirements, goals and deliverables are in alignment with the metrics for success
  • Understand the company’s product offerings, overall goals and objectives, and use them as guiding principles when collaborating with project stakeholders
  • Establish excellent working relationships within the organization to foster open communication among all project stakeholders and team members
  • Communicate project status and big picture implications to stakeholders across the organization
  • Maintain project roadmaps and prioritize resources working across projects
  • Manage the backlog of features, epics, stories, and tasks and organize sprint planning for projects in a distributed engineering environment
  • Reduce friction and impediments from engineering team to ensure progress against sprints and deadlines by shielding and unblocking them
  • Organize and facilitate cross-team and engineering retrospectives at the end of each sprint/iteration for continuous process improvement
  • Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks
  • Help departments understand cross-team dependencies to better align efforts with the goals of the organization at large by facilitating meetings and discussions to ensure risk factors and responsibilities are clearly understood

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5+ years of project management experience at either in a tech startup or mid-sized company
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills
  • An ability to influence and lead without authority
  • Able to establish goals and set clear expectations, prioritize activities, resources and follow through to completion
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including negotiation and problem resolution in a cross-functional team
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • A start-up mentality. You’re self- motivated, fearless, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • An innate desire to bring an appropriate level of definition and organization to any situation encountered
  • Familiarity working with engineers using agile development frameworks and philosophy
  • JIRA expertise is a big plus
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information and exercise exceptional judgement
