Accounting Manager
As the Accounting Manager at Earnest Research, you will lead the development of internal controls and policies, manage monthly closes, create solutions and procedures to de-risk the business, and improve financial performance visibility throughout the organization. You will be responsible for building and scaling our accounting team to grow in tandem with the rapid expansion of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of accounting management both internally and through third-party vendors. This includes customer invoicing, tax forms, reporting, etc.
- Review month-end closing journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with GAAP guidelines
- Oversee efficient daily cash, A/P and A/R processes
- Maintain NetSuite to ensure all internal data attributes are reportable for the business
- Provide comprehensive and timely reporting and analysis to management, the Board of Directors, and other internal and external stakeholders (including data partners)
- Manage 3rd party audits of the consolidated financials and notes
- Ensure Corporate Tax, 1099s, and Sales Tax Filings are timely, accurate, and the company remains in compliance
- Review and approve international payroll and contractor payments, ensure company remains in compliance with foreign employment laws
- Calculate and report monthly commissions to Sales team
- Formulate and continuously assess internal controls and policies to comply with established best practices
- Develop a purchase order system with the business to manage overall capital budget and individual projects from approval to commitment to spend
- Manage the Company’s insurance programs
- Lead and inspire our Accounting function through high growth
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of work experience in Accounting, include experience working with 3rd party accounting firms and/or managing a team
- CPA required
- Excellent knowledge of financial close best practices and internal controls
- 2+ years of NetSuite experience
- Strong problem solving, data crunching, reporting, and financial modeling skills
- Ability to effectively articulate and communicate analysis and influence business partner’s decisions
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of audiences, ability to work as both a team member and a team leader
Preferred Skills
- Audit / assurance experience from a leading public accounting firm
- Experience with subscription and professional services business models
