Software Engineer, New Graduate (2020)

What you'll do:

You will work on a specific project critical to Duolingo’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects, as our fast-paced startup grows and evolves. Our software engineers:

  • Collaborate on full-stack software projects in partnership with product managers and designers
  • Develop, release, and maintain services and/or infrastructure
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables

A few examples of projects our new graduates have led include:

  • Stories and Leaderboards on Android
  • Rewriting microservice that powers our most powerful gamification feature, streak
  • Adding the fun cartoon characters on iOS and Android
  • Launching new courses, like Hindi and Indonesian
  • New metrics analytics tools
  • Personalizing practice sessions

What we’re looking for:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or related technical field, i.e. math, physics or data science
  • Programming experience
  • Dedication to our mission of accessible education 
  • Willingness  to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA
