Role Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be delivering a High Availability / Low Latency data delivery pipeline dealing with billions of records. Using some of the most cutting edge Big Data technologies around (Spark/Scala/ElasticSearch/HBase/DynamoDB/EMR/Lambda) all deployed on the cloud.

The D&B Direct+ suite of products are used by some of the world's leading technology companies and you will get a chance to drive the evolution of these products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, deliver and deploy highly performant and secure backend services (API / Big Data data processing products)
  • Working in a cross-functional agile team you will be developing features end-to-end across the software stack and responsible for all non-functional capabilities.
  • You will be expected to write elegant, simple code that lends itself to low cost maintenance, extensibility, testability and performance.
  • You will validate proposed approaches and explore new concepts using proof-of-concepts, wire frames and early experience prototypes.
  • Work within a Scrum team with members based in Ireland and globally.


Key Requirements:

Skills and Experience
  • A genuine passion and interest in technology and software development with a thorough knowledge of web services trends, best practices, and new technologies with the drive to stay informed on upcoming technologies.
  • At least few years commercial experience developing production grade software using Java or Scala.
  • Strong knowledge of Web Service Development, preferably REST using JSON.
  • Thorough understanding of object-oriented design and programming methodologies.
  • The ability to write well documented, maintainable, and clean code.
  • Practical experience or demonstrable interest of any of the following is a big plus, but not required (we will teach you).
    • ElasticSearch/HBase/DynamoDB/Aurora DB
    • Scala/MapReduce/Cascading
    • AWS/Azure experience
    • SpringBoot/Core/Security/Batch
    • Python/other scripting for deployment automation
    • Continuous Delivery (PipeLines/ Blue-Green deployments/Feature Switches)
    • Web App Security (OAuth 2.0/SAML/OWASP)
    • Performance Tuning & Performance Testing (JMeter/Application memory profiling)
    • Networking/Firewalls/Load balancers
    • High availability low latency (99.99+/ <100ms>
    • Automated testing (JUnit/ScalaTest/WebDriver/Jenkins Pipelines)
    • GIT
