Head of Litigation and Regulatory

Team Description 

Our Legal team is responsible for ensuring safety, security, and setting global policies, and helps keep our users and their stuff safe. We protect Dropbox, counsel Dropboxers on challenging problems, and stay in sync with other teams here.

Role Description

As the Head of Litigation and Regulatory, you’ll counsel the company on a wide range of issues. Entrepreneurial by nature, you’ll have immediate impact with your analytic rigor, uncanny judgment, effective counseling, great people skills and ability to get things done.  If you are a person with user-driven instincts who loves a challenging, team-focused, and fast environment, then this is the place for you!


  • Take responsibility for all litigation and regulatory matters across the globe
  • Lead a team of passionate Dropboxers who respond to government data requests and requests to remove content from Dropbox
  • Guide litigation strategy from start to finish
  • Be a passionate advocate for Dropbox users 
  • Provide strategic counseling on complex legal issues, including issues related to data privacy and security
  • Work closely with our product counsel team on a wide manner of legal issues 
  • Run internal projects, trainings, processes, and drive cross-functional efforts 
  • Exhibit excellent judgment around risk management 


  • 10+ years experience, with at least some in-house legal experience in a relevant setting
  • JD, admitted to the California Bar, distinctive academic and professional record
  • In-depth experience with and real passion for laws affecting online services (e.g., IP law, global privacy law, data security law, Section 230(c), ECPA, constitutional law)
  • Real-world experience counseling technology companies on novel legal issues
  • Demonstrated leadership and talent-development skills 
  • Sweats the details, organized, and able to drive complex projects to conclusion 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable navigating complicated, sensitive, and nuanced issues
  • High integrity, strong ethics, and an unflappable demeanor
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a dynamic team environment
