Data Security & Investigations Manager

Our legal, policy, trust & security team helps keep users and their stuff safe. We protect Dropbox, counsel Dropboxers on challenging problems, and deal with novel issues every day while standing up for users and helping the company and product grow.

Role Description

Protecting Dropbox and our users is essential to being worthy of trust. We’re looking for an Data Security & Investigations Manager to join the Data Security team within Trust & Security. The Data Security team works to strengthen customer trust, manage security risks, and meet compliance obligations. This is an individual contributor, and you will work closely with counterparts in Risk and Compliance, Legal, and Security Engineering teams to help us keep Dropbox safe on a day-to-day basis. You will own internal investigations around policy violations and will work to mature our process and tools to help support these investigations.  You will also oversee identity and data accesses controls for internal tools across the organization. You will assist with internal audits on a regular basis.  Finally, you will support or manage various internal data security projects to help mature the data security program at Dropbox.


  • Manage and facilitate internal data security projects
  • Identify, review, and communicate data security best practices for the business
  • Manage the internal investigation program and lead all investigations.
  • Improve our detection and audit capabilities
  • Continuously improve and update our data access policies, roles, permissions and audit capabilities
  • Identify deviations from policy and take appropriate action


  • 5+ years of data security, audit, or IT experience
  • Strong experience writing analytics queries and working within analytics tools
  • Expertise with standing up an investigation program, including selecting, implementing, and managing investigation tools
  • Experience conducting internal audits
  • Subject matter expertise on the best security practices across the data security industry
  • Understanding and willingness to learn about diverse business functions 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for technology and desire to solve complex problems with creative solutions
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well in fast-paced team environment
  • Process-focused with strong track record of creating processes that scale
