DriveTime’s traditional core business focuses on used vehicle sales and finance serving customers with less than perfect credit with 6,000 employees, 140 dealership locations and a $4.5 Billion loan portfolio.  DriveTime also provides ancillary product administration and a GPS application for our customers.  DriveTime is a privately held company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.  DriveTime culture emphasizes a collaborative, team oriented, dynamic work environment. 

Responsibilities

General Counsel will be responsible for:

  • Consulting with management in all business areas
  • Reviewing, advising, negotiating and drafting contractual agreements
  • Advising the company on dealer and loan servicing operations matters
  • Advising the company on marketing and public relations matters
  • Advising the company on corporate governance and Board of Director matters
  • Advising the company on internal and external audit matters
  • Advising the company on ancillary product administration, licensing, and legal requirements
  • Keeping informed of industry-specific regulations and ensuring that appropriate risk management strategies are in place
  • Advising the company on and managing outside counsel for ongoing business issues as needed; patent and trademark matters; litigation and employment law matters
  • Managing legal, compliance and licensing groups

Qualifications

  • Well qualified lawyer from a distinguished law school
  • 15+ years legal employment history
  • Experience in Consumer Finance
  • General business experience required
  • In-house counsel desired
  • Experience in Automotive industries helpful
  • Experience in employment law helpful
  • Self-motivated team player with the proven ability to identify legal issues, manage priorities in a fast paced environment and exercise judgment and balance legal and business concerns within acceptable risk parameters
  • Experience successfully managing a legal/compliance staff
