Key Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for producing 2+ feature-length stories each week on the trading and technology beat.
  • Stories will be strongly reported, agenda-setting, highly visual, and data-rich.
  • Develops a deep network of sources.
  • Writes and produces the investment banking newsletter where needed.
  • Seeks out opportunities to be on TV and radio.
  • Engages with broader audience through social media.
  • Seeks out opportunities to write/produce content for other parts of FN including People section where relevant.
  • Writes short pieces for FN Now where relevant.
  • Advises projects team on IB-related projects. Help produce content for projects team where relevant.
  • Participates in weekend/holiday coverage rota as appropriate

Key skills required

  • Capable of conceiving and reporting out original, in-depth stories, including scoops of fact and insight.
  • Produces fast, clean, compelling and accurate first drafts
  • Experience of developing a broad network of well-placed sources
  • Demonstrates understanding of digital journalism concepts and digital storytelling techniques.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the beat.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work as a team and cover for other reporters/editors where required.
