Team Leader, German Language Service

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a Team Leader for its German Language Service. The Team Leader manages two reporters based in Berlin, covering the German government, economics and politics for the German Language Service for subscribers chiefly in the financial and corporate sector.In addition to organizing coverage and managing the reporters, the team leader is expected to report spot news, including some economic indicators, and to write analytical and background stories.Spot news (flash and fill) coverage and reporting will be expected on:

  • Politics, with a focus on economic policy
  • Government with chancellor, ministries of finance, economic affairs, environment, construction, labor and social affairs, justice, defense and interior
  • Selected economic indicators (in coordination with the Frankfurt news desk)
  • Economic think tanks in Germany
  • Trade and commercial organizations and associations
  • Selected corporate events in Berlin
  • Industry conferences

It is essential that the job holder ensure close cooperation and coordination with editorial managers in Frankfurt, WSJ reporters in Berlin and with the Frankfurt news desk and slots.
