Job Description:

Dow Jones is seeking a journalist to join its innovative WSJ City team, which focuses on telling stories smartly and concisely for a busy, international audience. The role is based in London covering the US day, so you should expect to work a shift that ends at 11pm.

You'll be an innovator at heart with a keen sense of how to enhance the news experience for a time-pressed audience. The WSJ City newsfeed will soon become a key element of spin-off apps that require fast, high-quality news throughout the day.

The role primarily focuses on adapting WSJ and other Dow Jones content for a time-pressed audience, with some opportunities for original reporting. You'll be passionate about user experience and will be closely watching our industry to bring new ideas to the table.

The candidate will have excellent news sense and be able to work to high standards, at times unsupervised. You'll be responsible for ensuring WSJ City and its spinoffs are kept fresh with content during US working hours.

It's imperative that you're able to make sound judgements on what constitutes must-read news and be able to present this in a compelling way. You'll know what makes a great push alert or tweet, know how to prioritise stories and have a keen visual eye to ensure WSJ City and its spin-offs are comprehensive and lively and meet their key requirement of keeping readers deeply informed in less than 10 minutes a day.

You'll need to be familiar with how financial markets work and why they move, as well as having a sound understanding of business, finance, tech and political news.
