Dow Jones

Reporter, Shale

Job Description

The Wall Street Journal seeks an enterprising reporter to cover a crucial corporate beat: the companies behind the U.S. fracking boom.

The successful candidate should be able to produce high-impact scoops, sharp analytical pieces and compelling narratives on the shale drillers that have turned the U.S. into a global power in oil and gas production. This person also should possess the ability to think creatively about the beat and how to bring the economic and geopolitical ramifications of the U.S. oil and gas renaissance to life for a sophisticated global audience.

Prior experience covering energy is useful but not required. Rather, candidates should have a proven ability to develop deep sources, master complex topics, write clearly and authoritatively and work well with other colleagues. This beat requires close cooperation with reporters in London, M&I and elsewhere around the world. Candidates should also be creative about approaches to storytelling and committed to connecting with readers digitally.
