Dow Jones

Reporter, Airlines

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is seeking an enterprising reporter to master one of our premier corporate beats: the aviation industry. The trillion-dollar global airline industry comprises some of our biggest and most important companies. It is a barometer of global economic health and a key part of the professional lives of many Wall Street Journal readers -- who also have a lot of strong feelings about air travel. The beat is heavy on news, and the successful candidate should be able to generate scoops and weigh in quickly with smart analysis on breaking developments. The ability to identify and produce high-impact enterprise stories on a regular basis is essential. The reporter must have the ability to source deeply within companies and develop agenda-setting coverage. The beat involves responsibility for all U.S.-based airlines including American, Delta and United, along with regulators and industry stakeholders. It is also essential that the reporter take a global approach to the beat and collaborate closely with reporters around the world and in different subject areas. We are looking for someone who can think creatively about the best way to tell these vital stories for our digital audience. The successful candidate doesn't need previous experience covering aviation but must be eager to learn the beat quickly.
