ROLE:

The Head of Product Strategy is a multi-disciplinary leadership role which requires intellectual curiosity, a strong bias to action and a passion for solving enterprise problems with data & technology. Accountable to the General Manager, the Head of Product Strategy is externally focused on the needs of clients and partners, serving as the Product Owner for DNA.

This hands-on role requires strong commercial acumen, strategic vision, exemplary communication and influencing skills and the ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries. Responsible for the flawless execution of a market driven approach to product development and go to market for DNA.

The ideal candidate combines their understanding of enterprise decision making, voice of customer, marketplace and competition to exploit Dow Jones' underlying technical data platform and datasets to deliver business outcomes for our customers and growth opportunities for Dow Jones and its partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the product and go to market strategy including vision, goals, initiatives to create the investment case linked to commercial objectives outlined in the General Manager's business plan. Analyze voice of customer and prioritize the backlog of product feature and go to market requirements, creating clear value propositions.
  • Work in conjunction with Technology, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Policy and Pricing and Data Strategy stakeholders to translate the feature and go to market requirements into domain specific deliverables, either technical or commercial. Ensure alignment with these groups.
  • Govern, maintain and communicate a single, integrated product and go to market plan (using) in collaboration with Technology, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Pricing and Data Strategy to ensure flawless delivery. Facilitate entry and exit decisions across alpha, beta and general availability releases.
  • Monitor customer lifecycle metrics across lead generation, sales, adoption, usage and satisfaction and define strategies to optimize including increasing lead and opportunity maturity.
  • Evaluate potential strategic partnerships to determine if they align with the business plan, enhance the value of our content and strengthen our commercial propositions or present material EBITDA opportunity.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer, sector and partner (market) intelligence and have expert knowledge of the partner and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Define pricing in consultation with Policy and Pricing team.
  • Serve as thought leader and product subject matter expert providing internal stakeholders with the advice, documentation, tools and training necessary to increase sales and customer retention and advocacy. This includes providing hands-on support to the sales and partner teams for customer and partner meetings.
  • Sign off on all capital expenditure requests for product delivery, ensuring that there is sufficient cost control across the delivery lifecycle.
  • Work in conjunction with the Technical Product Manager to translate feature requirements into new or enhanced technical platform services.
  • Perform retrospectives of all product releases, ensuring that investment case benefits have been delivered and lessons captured.
  • Provide hands-on support to the General Manager for aspects of the budget cycle. Ensuring there is a clear business case for new areas of product development.
  • Travel to support sales, customers and partners will be required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience
  • Successful product management strategy and execution
  • Successful go to market strategy and execution including customer lifecycle optimization
  • Successful technical program, project or delivery management strategy and execution
  • Experience in Financial Services, major management consulting or major technology professional services firm
  • Experience in developing business cases and plans
  • Experience with platform, cloud and utility computing technology business models
  • Experience with data and content licensing and partnership business models
  • Experience with and strong working knowledge of API, data analysis and processing tools, machine learning and application development technologies
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills for both executive level and end user, developer audiences
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Experience with product management tools including
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields, or equivalent practical experience
  • Certification in data science & engineering or machine learning technologies preferred
  • Ability to qualify and close a DNA client sale or partner deals
  • MBA preferred
