Data Program Manager

Job Description:

We are looking for a self-motivated Program Manager to join the Membership Strategy Group for The Wall Street Journal. We are looking to build cross-functional teams to work on missions that grow long-term revenue. You will lead our efforts in delivering results by gathering and analyzing complex operational and financial information, identifying and bridging information gaps and then presenting implications and creative solutions to senior management. You will drive and execute a variety of projects of different complexities in parallel. You will report to the Director of Membership Strategy.

Details of responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Work with Product, Technology, Finance and Membership to manage multiple projects from launch through completion. Mediate to bring agreement on priority, scope and realistic timelines. Motivate and maintain a healthy alignment across multiple project teams.
  • Visibility: Ensures shared understanding of holistic goals and success criteria across all project teams. Promote a free flow of information with and among team members on all matters.
  • Collaboration and Team: Work with leads, including marketing, product, finance and operations teams to move efforts forward successfully. From time-to-time, you may employ some agile frameworks or tools to improve efforts.
  • Transparency - Track and communicate program-level metrics inclusive of all essential risks, and emergent issues that are accessible and current. Manage portfolio communications for important partners as needed
  • Continuous Improvement: Detect systemic issues, process problems, and other risks and work with the appropriate colleagues to find resolutions.
  • Impediment Removal: Ensure all risks and considerations are identified and handled swiftly, and that important decisions are communicated appropriately

Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience working in project/program management. Applicants with strong technical experience and a professional background in media and/or subscriptions are also encouraged to apply.
  • Collaborative instincts and interpersonal skills; must enjoy and work well with multiple stakeholders in a complex organization
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem-solving capabilities with the aptitude to identify indicators and gather and analyze data
  • Ruthless focus and instinctive prioritization for delivering maximum value.
  • Help strategically solve technical problems because of prior direct experience working with engineers, operations, and data science.
