Art Director

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is seeking an art directorto join its award-winning Visuals team in New York City. This personwill design pages and layouts of various editions and sections of the newspaper. Coverage areas include global news, business and finance, technology and lifestyles.This is a rare opportunity to collaborate with world-class editors and other visual journalists from ourgraphics and photo departments to produce work that is seen by millions of people every day around the world.

Job requirements:

  • At least three to five years of experience, or equivalent, in newspaper or magazine design.
  • Excellent design aesthetic and typographic skills.
  • Fluency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work in both Macintosh and PC operating systems.
  • Able to design multiple pages according to specifications of a news and advertising edition plan.
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with EidosMedia's Methode publishing system a plus.
  • The initiative to take on and learn new tasks in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
