About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join our Legal Department in Princeton or New York as Counsel. You have experience advising clients in digital media or ad tech. You shall also have substantive knowledge of digital privacy. You will handle a variety of legal work, commercial and transactional, relating to advertising, with an initial focus on Ad Tech & Digital Media initiatives, and will also advise on privacy matters. You will support nimble, innovative sales and commercial teams and therefore require timely, practical legal advice and support in a fast-paced environment, with careful balancing of risks in light of commercial and strategic goals.

You Will
  • Report to the Chief Privacy Officer and be based in either our New York City or Princeton office.
  • Advise Dow Jones' consumer division on their data-driven activities, including digital advertising technology, data analytics and data solutions in compliance with global privacy laws.
  • Draft, negotiate and review agreements relating to digital media advertising, ad tech, affiliate marketing, including media buys, insertion orders, variations on IAB terms, vendor agreements.
  • Help align Dow Jones data collection and processing practices with applicable privacy laws, regulations and self-regulatory principles; and
  • Maintain updated knowledge of legal and regulatory developments that are relevant to Dow Jones consumer division, including in online privacy, ad tech and digital media.

You Have
  • A Juris Doctor from a reputable law school.
  • 3+ year's experience as a commercial lawyer in a law firm and/or media company.
  • A license to practice law in New York or New Jersey or the ability to obtain an in-house limited license.
  • Solid knowledge of online advertising and data solutions (e.g., use of cookies and cookie alternatives, programmatic advertising, data management platforms, data suppliers).
  • Familiarity with privacy laws with an ongoing interest in privacy and technology law work.
  • Integrity, professional ethics and sound judgment in managing risks.
  • Willingness to learn the business and its strategy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Able to multi-task and exercise good judgment in setting priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation, with an ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Worked with clients from varying disciplines and geographic backgrounds.

Pay Range: $150,000 - $250,000
