As part of Dolby’s Applications Engineering organization, the Audio Software Integration team provides holistic software integration and product development support to Licensee product manufacturers with a focus on mobile phones, tablets, personal computers, and software applications; ensuring that the performance and functionality of these devices meets Dolby’s quality standards.

The team also provides engineering and technical support to Licensee manufacturers of DSP and SoC integrated circuits; IP Cores; and developers of audio codec drivers, media frameworks and software libraries during the implementation and integration of Dolby licensed technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a senior member of the Audio Software Integration team you will be expected to lead generously as an expert on Dolby’s licensed products and related technologies. You will maintain technical proficiency in areas related to Dolby’s businesses and serve as a technical adviser and domain expert to a variety of teams throughout the company.

You will interpret generally defined internal policies and apply deep technical knowledge to resolve the issues and challenges associated with integrating Dolby technologies into licensed consumer products.

You will work regularly with cross-functional teams across Dolby as the “voice of the customer” providing feedback on and driving improvements to Dolby’s licensing deliverables.

You will have the opportunity to grow professionally in areas related to Dolby’s businesses, complete assignments independently, and provide training and guidance to others.

Job Functions

Demonstrate leadership and initiative, supporting the team manager in identifying and tackling challenges that face the team.

Willingly take on difficult tasks with broad impact, driving resolution on high-impact, complex technical problems.

Provide support to Licensees and internal field technical teams to facilitate Dolby’s technology licensing program using a diplomatic, professional and service-oriented approach.

Assist customers with performance problems that arise during the testing and evaluation of licensed implementations and products.

Analyze test data against published requirements.

Ensure the evaluation of licensed implementations and products is in accordance with established procedures, specifications, and guidelines.

Maintain accurate records of customer communications and other support activities.

Support the evaluation and approval of Dolby Licensed Products and Implementations by confirming the accuracy of test results and producing professional, accurate written reports that communicate the conformance of these implementations and products compared with the established requirements.

Work with product managers and engineering teams on the development and maintenance of licensing deliverables.

Deliver training to field technical teams on Dolby’s technology and product offerings.

Contribute to the training and professional development of other team members.

Functional Requirements

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 7-10 years of engineering experience in consumer electronics or related fields. Master’s degree holders in related disciplines with 5-7 years of such experience will also be considered.

Proven track record of high-quality engineering work in the fast paced consumer electronics industry. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve goals.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities when working on complex problems.

Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.

Ability to adapt communication approach in an astute manner in order to work and solve technical problems collaboratively across a wide range of skill levels, cultures and backgrounds.

Impeccable integrity and the ability to handle situations involving complicated, high-pressure legal or business relationships, as well as sensitive, confidential information.

Occasional international travel is required for this position.

Some experience in a customer facing role is desirable, but not required.

Technical Requirements

Fluency in object oriented programming languages especially Java, C++ and/or Python.

Proficient in reading and debugging C.

Experience with Android Studio and/or X-code build environments.

Experience with Linux tools, libraries and open source development.

Working knowledge of Windows, Android and Linux operating systems and their multimedia frameworks.

Experience with Digital Signal Processing for consumer electronics.

Experience with mobile device product development in several of the following capacities:

o Technical product/program management; Carrier/OEM testing and validation; Acoustics calibration, tuning, testing and validation; Operating system integration; Audio system design and testing; Audio codec development and integration; Prototype bring-up and debugging, Software integration; Quality Analysis.

Related experience in several of the following areas:

o DSP algorithm porting, optimization and integration; Embedded Systems design; Software for embedded processors; Computer and Operating system architecture; DSP architectures and their multimedia frameworks; DSP library configuration for audio products; ARM toolchain; Technology licensing; IP-based content delivery and playback products; Acoustic Testing and Measurement.

Interest in music, audio/video production, recording engineering, game/film audio or acoustics highly desirable.
