Job Summary

The Senior General Ledger Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will work closely with the Corporate Accounting team in San Francisco. This position will own all fixed asset and intangible asset accounting functions, including asset acquisition, disposal, and depreciation; ensuring assets are properly recorded in the appropriate cost center; researching and resolving accounting issues; and implementing control and process improvements. The Senior General Ledger Accountant will also own the general ledger master data, collaborate with Business Finance and other cross-functional departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of accruals, and assist in monthly flux analysis for management review. To be successful in this role, you will need a strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment. In addition, you will need strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams, including Finance, HR, Facilities, Payroll and Benefits, Treasury, AR, AP, Internal Audit, Revenue, and IT. This is a high visibility role with exposure to many areas of the Company and there is strong opportunity for growth and advancement.

Job Functions

  • Own all aspect of long-term asset accounting including fixed asset additions, disposals/retirements, and depreciation; capital leases; construction in progress; capitalized software; and intangibles and goodwill
  • Review capital expenditures for compliance with the fixed asset policy and appropriate general ledger coding
  • Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and rollforward for fixed assets
  • Prepare journal entries primarily related to but not limited to fixed assets and corporate accruals
  • Lead monthly pre-close meeting with FP&A and other cross-functional departments
  • Prepare monthly flux analysis for areas of responsibility
  • Own close calendar, close checklist, and master general ledger account reconciliation list
  • Perform monthly consolidation in accordance with close calendar timelines
  • Generate monthly financial reports, including balance sheet, income statement, and trial balances
  • Maintain GL master data in SAP and responsible for creating new GL accounts, cost center, profit center, or company code as required to support reporting
  • Provide data to the internal tax team for property and sales/use tax returns
  • Assist with external audits
  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested

Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field, CPA preferred
  • Minimum of five years total experience
  • Minimum of three years of general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliation experience in an ERP environment (SAP preferred)
  • Strong financial analytical skills with a strong ability to identify incongruities and anomalies in balances
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)
