Overview:
The responsibilities of the Senior Compliance Analyst position will be focused on monitoring Licensee compliance with the terms (particularly reporting and payment terms) of the relevant patent license agreement, internal and external policing activity, such as data entry and online research, and assisting in identifying non-licensed companies that appear to be infringing patents licensed through Via's various licensing programs. This position requires interfacing with existing Licensees, Via Accounting, IT, Legal, Sales, and Program Management department personnel, as required, in support of the Global License Program and to support internal communications.

This role will be based out of San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate strong technical and licensing knowledge to manage and execute audits from audit announcement to audit completion
  • Perform technology research and maintain a good understanding of audio products and technologies
  • Perform market analysis and financial background research on Licensees targeted for audit
  • Partner closely with the Compliance Manager to develop the implementation of compliance procedures and processes in line with industry best practices
  • Oversee and follow up on email notices to Licensees
  • Investigate non-reporting and non-paying Licensees and, when applicable, initiate the breach process
  • Maintain product tracking leads database to ensure data integrity
  • Analyze quarterly reports submitted by Licensees under their Patent License Agreements and respond to any discrepancies or changes in sales trends
  • Assist in identifying companies that are infringing patents licensed through Via's various licensing programs and hand off these leads to the appropriate regional Sales representative for follow up

Requirements :
  • Bachelor's Degree required, emphasis in Business or Accounting preferred
  • 5 years relevant Big 4 audit and/or forensics audit experience required
  • 3 years minimum experience directly in license compliance, royalty accounting, intellectual property contract administration, or licensing accounting
  • Solid understanding of technology and licensing in the context of intellectual property
  • Ability to interface well with other departments
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with Licensees
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience with databases or record repository applications
