About the Finance Department

The finance team is the largest team based in Amsterdam that supports the Dolby business teams and EMEA R&D centers which are spread throughout the region. The team of 16 is responsible for FP&A, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Collections and Payroll. It is a young multinational team who are passionate about providing an excellent service in an industry that is focused on light and sound.

This is a newly created role as we grow our payroll team from 2 to 3 and will report to the AP & Payroll Manager. There are 10 country payrolls with just under 500 employees in total. The person will work closely with our HR Operations team and 3rd party payroll providers so great communication skills are essential.

About the Role

To be responsible for country payrolls that fall within the Dolby EMEA shared service organisation based in Amsterdam. The person will be responsible for the total payroll function for specific countries.

The key functions of this role are:

  • Check output from 3rd party payroll provider to the submission inputs from HR
  • Prepare payment files and ensure payments take place on time
  • Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations which include gross to net calculations
  • Prepare monthly payroll journals and post in SAP
  • Review payroll associated costs ie vacation, pension
  • Responsible for Balance sheet and P&L reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Attend to payroll specific queries from employees

Dolby is a SOX compliant American company therefore previous working within a regulated company is preferred. An understanding of internal & external controls and the importance of efficient and high quality execution is essential.

About You

  • Solid related work experience in payroll accounting
  • Ideally an MBO / Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or country equivalent education
  • Advance Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Excellent analytical skills in order to be able to explain variances in payroll expenses
  • Fluent in English (verbal & written) and the ability to understand / speak French, Spanish and/or German is a bonus
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Team player with customer oriented approach
  • Proactive, well organized and able to work to deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • SAP experience is preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
