The Office of the CTO is spearheading a new cloud-based strategy for bringing Dolby's existing and upcoming state-of-the-art technologies to customers via modern cloud-powered APIs. We're looking for people to help us forge a new direction for our products & technology. You'll be part of an R&D organization based in Sydney, working in a small team on a strategically important program.

In this role you'll be adapting, combining and creating signal processing algorithms to solve customer problems. You'll need a good knowledge of audio signal processing and critical listening skills to diagnose problems and evaluate solutions.

Our solutions run in the Cloud, so you'll be free from tight memory and processing constraints and instead able to implement cutting-edge algorithms including machine learning to analyse and enhance media.

You should be comfortable assessing and adapting existing algorithms that are often written in Matlab or C and version controlled in Perforce and Git. Proficiency in Python is highly valued for automated testing, general purpose scripting and machine learning applications. The algorithms are deployed as Linux docker containers so knowledge in this area would be useful.

This is an amazing opportunity for an engineer with good knowledge of AV signal processing and software development to work in a dynamic environment where algorithms can be developed and iterated quickly based on customer feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions to signal processing problems using Python, Matlab and C.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships within the organisation.
  • Design and implement automated tests to ensure software is functioning correctly
  • Work with research to refine and guide research deliverables.

To be Successful

The role will require the ability to work with researchers and engineers to prototype and implement audio processing technology. Applicants should have knowledge of audio signal processing (ideally with some knowledge of machine learning and or cloud technologies), together with excellent communication skills and a high level of motivation and initiative.
