This position manages the new state-of-the-art screening room at Dolby HQ on Market Street in San Francisco, the Potrero Presentation Studio, supervises support staff, and provides high-level oversight to ensure perfect performance.

Oversight includes coordinating weekday, weekend, and evening technology demonstrations for customers and VIPS, company meetings, and events. Works with Dolby internal clients including Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Development, Gaming, Cinema Services and Support, Sales & Research, and Engineering. Non-Dolby clients: screenings for San Francisco Bay Area press and community groups, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Accommodates meetings by technical groups including the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Audio Engineering Society.

Creates and manages a showcase plan for the new screening facility at 1275 to provide for the balance of internal needs with external, community, and industry based uses for Dolby’s new 250 seat premiere screening venue and the existing screening room at 100 Potrero Ave.

Manages the programming, administration and technical oversight of the Dolby Gallery space at 1275 Market. Partner with the 1275 Curator to develop strategy and execute audio visual new media contact and experiences for The Dolby Gallery.

Job Functions and Competencies

1275 & Potrero Screening Rooms

  • Manages multiple screening room facilities in SF
  • Supervises the theaters’ technical support staff to ensure that the image, sound, and mixing systems are consistently of a world-wide first class caliber
  • Supervise and schedule Projection staff
  • Oversees screening room events, including but not limited to:
  • Creation, projection, and QC of 2D and 3D Digital Cinema Packages
  • Projection of internal and external presentations
  • Lighting for screenings, meetings, and events
  • Live sound for meetings and events
  • Seminars and panel discussions
  • Video conferences
  • Media Production including Atmos Mixing and Color Correction
  • Streaming media events
  • Coordinates and performs demonstrations of Dolby Vision and Atmos
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels and trains staff
  • Hires and supervises contract projectionists
  • Coordinates external screening requests from Academy, studios, charities
  • Develops potential Theater monetization plan
  • Manages expense and capital budgets for maintenance and continuous improvement
  • Manages incoming and outgoing invoices/Purchase Orders/Receiving
  • Develops plans and procedures as a model for world-wide screening room facilities
  • Works with engineering teams, coordinates and assists with Dolby Cinema product testing and evaluation
  • Provides proactive involvement in continuous improvement, connection to technology/screening room trends which lead to innovation recommendation/planning/execution
  • Collaborates with Executive Staff for private events, screenings, and projects
  • Schedules and conducts testing of products, working closely with engineers
  • Coordinates assignments and sets project timeframes and priorities
  • Provides guidance and technical advice and becomes actively involved as required
  • Administers and recommends changes to policies that directly affect work activities
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of customer needs
  • Sets project timeframes and priorities based on project objectives and ongoing assignments

The Dolby Gallery

  • Provides administrative management of The Dolby Gallery
  • In partnership with the Director of Curation, oversees implementation, operations, and execution of key 1275 Dolby Experiences including Lobby activation and installations
  • Develops annual activation calendar, identifies key milestones, roles, responsibilities.
  • Drives key stakeholders including Community Outreach, Security, and PR to insure an integrated and secure experience for all 1275 Gallery visitors
  • Works with Community Outreach to engage and integrate cultural, civic, and education organizations
  • Acts as primary liaison, in conjunction with BCM and Comms/PR, for all touch points in 1275 Lobby to insure an integrated strategy and execution plan including the Digital Ribbon, Lighting, Sound, Displays, and Signage/Banners
  • Partners with the Technical Manager for technology acquisition, testing, and installation
  • Develops and implements all operational objectives and program elements
  • Responsible for Annual Activation Budget of XXXX

The Dolby Institute

  • Supports the Head of the Dolby Institute with Film Festival administration
  • Administration of world-wide Film Festival contracts
  • Oversight of sponsor benefits including ticketing and marketing exposure opportunities

Skills Required:

This position will be the public face of our new Dolby premiere screening facility at world headquarters. This is a hands-on, outward-facing position requiring both big picture perspective and roll-up-your sleeves capabilities, working on a variety of internal and external programs. The successful candidate must have:

  • Excellent program management and cross functional/cross team management
  • An attitude/preference and ability for collaborating with senior leadership
  • An attitude and ability to represent Dolby to outside clients, VIPs, and stakeholders
  • An ability to lead and influence without direct management / reporting line responsibility of cross functional managers
  • An ability to conceptualize experiences that are congruent with our brand
  • Ability to articulate the Dolby vision and how our technologies fit together
  • Budget and program management experience
  • Self-motivation, confidence and enthusiasm
  • A willingness to supervise/attend after-hours program events on evenings and weekends


  • Solid understanding of Dolby’s corporate strategy, history, current technology, and future brand vision.
  • Solid technical familiarity with all relevant product categories and devices in cinema and exhibition, including post-production mixing and mastering
  • 5-7+ years of experience producing high quality experiences for technically focused C-Level customer/partner base.
  • Creative problem-solver with ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Substantial budget management experience, including fiscal responsibility for large budgets coming in on target
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
