Experienced Auditor With Work-Life Balance

Audit Associate (Staff) with Work Life Balance

We're looking for a talented Audit Associate (1-3 years of experience) to join our rapidly growing CPA firm in Austin Texas. We are a firm that holds itself to the highest standards for quality and client service. By putting our focus on quality and efficiency, we have actually achieved that elusive work-life balance that most firms are famous for talking about, but not actually implementing.

The majority of our audit/assurance practice work revolves around examinations, agreed upon procedures, performance audits, outsourced internal audit and SOX compliance. Most of our projects are larger than a typical financial statement audit. They will usually involve both financial and operational components and we can focus on projects where we are able to provide substantial value-added benefits to the client. If you enjoy auditing, but not the grind that typically comes with working for a traditional/larger firm (long hours, constantly trying to wrap up one financial statement audit when you have already moved on to the next audit, etc), we think you will find our firm a great change of pace:

  • No traditional busy-season for our audit practice
  • Minimal travel
  • Paid time off plus accrual of “comp” time for each hour of overtime worked which can be used as additional paid time off

Sure, we have deadlines like everyone else and there will be times where we have to work a few extra hours in a week to meet a deadline, but we reward those who buckle down and get the job done with getting to go home rather than piling on more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in executing the completion of services to our clients, including working with seniors, managers and partners to complete the testing, reporting and more
  • Maintain active communication with assigned clients to request and audit documentation, review potential issues and recommendations to ensure client satisfaction
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the client’s operations, processes and business objectives related to the engagement, and utilize that knowledge to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the engagement
  • Research and analyze issues and transactions and document procedures and results in audit software
  • Maintain the highest degree of professional standards
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality

Requirements

All candidates for this position MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Accounting professional with a minimum of one year of experience performing audit services with a public accounting firm or as an internal auditor
  • Certified Public Accountant, or currently CPA-eligible and actively in process of sitting for the exam
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, masters in accounting preferred
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate for this position is/has:

  • Experience with healthcare, government, and/or financial services preferred but not required
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work independently and collaborate with a team
  • Eager to assist with and take ownership of assigned activities
  • Capable of building meaningful personal relationships with clients while delivering results that exceed expectations
  • Able to multi-task when necessary but also able to assign priorities to ensure the critical tasks are accomplished first
  • Strong ethics and a desire to uphold the core values of our firm
  • Excellent analytical, technical and auditing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills (full Microsoft Office suite plus technical research tools)
  • Strong leadership, development, training and mentoring skills.
