About the Role & Team:
Join the Creative Team at 20th Century Games and help shape the look and feel of some of the biggest franchises in entertainment, including Alien, Predator, The Simpsons, and more. The Artist role is a unique opportunity to create visual designs and provide artistic guidance to external developers to ensure our diverse library of games meets a high level of quality, consistency, and brand authenticity.
A successful candidate will be an experienced game developer with a wide generalist skillset, working primarily in digital 2D and 3D methods driven by a traditional art foundational knowledge. Skillsets include digital painting, sketching, graphic design, and at least a basic understanding of 3D modeling with industry software like Maya or Blender. In addition to artistic skills, a successful candidate will be a strong communicator and collaborator, working directly with external developers and coordinating with our internal artists, designers, and producers.

This role will primarily focus on 20th Century’s many animated properties such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, American Dad!, and more. An ideal candidate will have experience working with stylized characters and have an understanding of 2D animation.
A digital portfolio demonstrating a range of subject matters such as characters, creatures, environments, vehicles, and props is required to be considered for the role. Please share or disable passwords to ensure efficient review of portfolios.
You will report to the Lead Artist
This is a Full-Time role
What You Will Do
Work with external partners to guide the visual development of our games from concept through completion and live service.
Report to the Lead Artist, providing updates on individual project progress and helping to meet art team goals.
Provide art feedback to external developers through drawovers, original art, written responses, and team discussions to ensure brand authenticity and quality are met across all projects.
Establish high visual benchmarks and provide recommendations to improve the visual design and execution of our products.
Create and explore visual designs that expand the existing IP universe as needed.
Problem-solve brand and visual design challenges, always working towards elevating our products, characters, and worlds.
Validate milestone submissions by playtesting game builds and reviewing art systems and assets.
Communicate and collaborate directly with the Production team and external partners.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in video game development preferred, or film, TV, or other entertainment experience.
Wide artistic skillset and expert knowledge of art and design principles such as color, composition, anatomy, and light.
Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop is a must; experience with 3D modeling software (Maya, Blender, etc.) is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present feedback and ideas in a compelling, clear and concise manner.
Self-starter, reliable, and passionate about their work; committed to their discipline and its challenges.
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, adapting to the design rules of each property’s art style.
Console, PC, or mobile gamer with an understanding of the latest gaming trends and titles.
Broad understanding of game development including the latest art creation pipelines.
Collaborative and sympathetic with a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the team and external developers.
Familiarity with 20th Century franchises, including Live Action Films, 20th TV and TV Animation, FX, National Geographic, and others.
Experience working on licensed properties is a plus.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $79,400 to $106,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
