Project Manager - Information Security
As Discovery Communications’ portfolio continues to grow – around the world and across platforms – the Global Technology & Operations team is building media technology and IT systems that meet the world class standard for which Discovery is known. GT&O builds, implements and maintains the business systems and technology that are critical for delivering Discovery’s products, while articulating the long-term technology strategy that will enable Discovery’s growing pay-TV, digital terrestrial, free-to-air and online services to reach more audiences on more platforms.

This position is to lead various projects within the Info Sec SOC in our Sterling, VA facility. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Program Manager, this role will provide assistance in Info Sec SOC operations, strategic planning, make recommendations to the CISO regarding strategy and requirements for maturing the program, and monitor the roadmap/plan to report against the progress of the plan. This individual helps in determining the priorities & strategic approach for the Info Sec team, helps monitor the budget and leads initiatives that support Strategic Plan through work that they help implement.
This role will work closely with Infrastructure, Technical Support, and Info Sec SMEs to coordinate the planning, scheduling, and testing of projects, programs, and training. The candidate will be expected to employ strong technical and organizational skills to coordinate requirements and deliverables with the customer; document best practices; schedule and prioritization of tasks; gather inputs and prepare documentation or briefings for/from technical review meetings.
1. Effectively utilize project management reporting and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Power Point, Visio, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Excel will be required.
2. Demonstrated experience effectively collaborating with multiple levels and facets of internal business teams around strategy planning and development. Strong relationships with individuals and cross functional teams is a must.
3. Provide support such as technical writing and editing of documents, integration of various sources into a cohesive product which may be delivered globally, and the preparation of graphical and narrative presentation materials and establish options for product format and layout for internal and external use.
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Project Management or equivalent field.
2-4 years of Project delivery experience in a high tech fast paced environment
Strong technical background with an in-depth understanding of IT infrastructure, needing little to no support in highly technical projects
Experience managing multiple, concurrent security/technology projects involving cross functional groups
Must excel at decision-making, consensus building and conflict management. Must be able to communicate and act upon risks appropriately
Must be able to juggle multiple, competing priorities
Possess strong analytical and communication skills, a risk mitigation mindset and exhibit appropriate levels of urgency
Project Management Professional (PMP), CISM, CISA or CISSP certifications a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Suite of tools, Microsoft Project, Excel, Viso, Word, SharePoint, etc.
Financial management and ROI analytical skills. Strong understanding of budgets
Possess effective oral and written communications skills and presentation skills
Must have legal right to work in the United States
