Manager-Competitive Strat& Mkt Analytics

Position Summary

The Manager of Competitive Strategy & Marketplace Analytics, reporting to the Director/VP, Competitive Strategy & Marketplace Analytics, will perform the key role of analyzing marketplace data to identify where Ad Sales should focus its efforts in order to maximize revenue. The Manager will be responsible for developing strategies, building the analytics and reports to measure performance against those strategies, and identifying solutions to improve performance.


1. Annual Strategy –Develop the category, competitive and external marketplace insights for the annual DCI revenue strategy
2. Category Strategy
a. Based on data and marketplace trends, identify key categories that will drive value for ad sales and develop strategy to grow, protect, maintain or lower share of the key categories
3. Competitive Strategy & Analytics
a. Build strategy and framework to analyze competitive pricing and derive actionable insights that will drive DCI pricing decisions
b. Build framework to analyze rating/delivery/audience performance relative to our competition including demographics and quality
4. Marketplace Analytics
a. Build framework to determine and report category performance
i. The framework will be built into the end-to-end data architecture and be reportable at the most granular level, and rolled up to the executive level
ii. The framework will combine internal data including volume and pricing and be merged with external data in order to evaluate share and relative pricing
b. Build framework to identify high-quality zero-share accounts and provide actionable direction to the sales team to obtain new business


6+ years of TV Ad Sales experience
Expertise in data and reporting (5+ years)
Expertise in Media Math (5+ years)
Bachelor’s Degree – Masters or MBA preferred
Very strong data and analytical skills required –strong Excel modelling skills
Expertise pulling data from External Data Sources (Lake 5 preferable)
Expertise building management reports
Experience pulling data from Business Intelligence tools
