With over 300 million monthly views, DDN is reaching young, influential audiences around the world through daily programming, weekly series, premium web-docs, virtual reality and live online events. Discovery Digital Networks is part of Discovery Communications, the world’s number one non-fiction media company.

We are seeking a Director of Marketing to lead brand and program marketing initiatives across our entire portfolio as well as Discovery VR. Position reports to the SVP of Development & Operations but is interdepartmental in function. The role will work closely with Programming, Production, Audience Development and PR.


  • Passionately advocate Discovery Digital Networks’ properties in various marketing initiatives
  • Well rounded understanding of effective consumer messaging via social, digital and press channels
  • Market Seeker, SourceFed and Discovery VR brands as well as individual programming
  • Be able to self-prioritize and meet fast-paced deadlines and work independently
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to mobilize and lead cross-functional team quickly and effectively
  • Strategic understanding of audience behavior resulting in a well-designed marketing media plan
  • Establish closely working relationships with other internal teams including programming, creative, PR, product and audience development
  • Proactively identify marketing opportunities and challenges while offering strategic solutions
  • Assist with the strategic creation and drive the tactical execution of marketing plans and strategies for properties and initiatives
  • Create and make effective presentations
  • Provide special project support as needed
  • Work closely with the PR team to ensure seamless collaboration and partner where opportunities exist

  • Expert problem solver with proven track-record of creating win-win solutions for diverse stakeholders
  • Creative thinker with analytical skills
  • Self-starter, driven to exceed expectations set by others
  • Adapt at organizing and facilitating meetings with senior executives within and outside of the company
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with concentration in marketing or business management
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills, good written and verbal communication and problem solving skills are a must
  • Knowledge of media industry a plus
  • Must have legal right to work in the United States
