What You'll Do:

Reporting into the Director of Design and Product Development , you will play a vital role for designing and developing product for Dia&Co private labels in the specified categories. This role is ideal for a person with a passion for fashion  with extreme organizational skills, comfortable with multitasking and tight deadlines. In this role you will be playing the critical role of designing collections across multiple lifestyle brands and be part of the #movefashionforward within the apparel industry. We are looking for someone with a hands on design experience from concept to manufacture ready designs with profound understanding of all aspects of design process.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for product design process from conceptual presentations, identifying and presenting a clear point of view on trends, key silhouettes, fabrics and fit appropriate to the defined aesthetics for the assigned product categories
  • Conduct competitive shopping and research of the marketplace for inspiration
  • Understand current business trends and consumer bestsellers to develop appropriate style, design and brand evolution
  • Within the framework of the assortment plan, design the line to reflect a balance between core businesses, emerging trends and fashion opportunities
  • With collaboration with the Director of Design assort the appropriate designs and fabrications to support the seasonal direction for style, print and fabric
  • Provide direction for colorways on stripes, plaids and prints based on the best sellers
  • Responsible for fabric and trim selection
  • Develop and manage the design and execution of the seasonal assortment
  • Prepare and present style boards for review with merchandising
  • In partnership with the Merchant merchandise the assigned product categories including seasonal flow, color and print point of view
  • Provide insight regarding style and fit of product during presentation
  • Create and maintain a complete tech pack throughout the life of a product ie sketch, technical details and trims
  • Responsible for the fit intent and fit process in the assigned categories
  • Work with technical designer and production partner to ensure design packages are complete and accurate
  • Ensure efficient communication with vendors and cross-functional teams on all design related issues

 

 

Qualifications:

  • College degree in Fashion Design
  • 6+ years of apparel design experience across multiple categories in apparel
  • Strong understanding of fabrics and construction in the specified categories
  • Hands on design experience – flat and illustrator sketching is a must
  • Strong organizational skills – proficiency in all Microsoft applications, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross functional team environment
  • Exceptional presentation skills, both visual and oral
  • Portfolio a must
