About the Reference Data Service (RDS) Program

RDS delivers a reliable and timely golden source intra and end-of-day data service to support the needs of front to back business processes of Deutsche Bank. These business processes include but are not limited to; trade capture, trading risk management and P&L, IPV, settlement, client valuations, collateral management, market data management, market risk and financial reporting. Scope extends across all Deutsche Bank businesses and asset classes.

RDS is currently undergoing a large and complex platform migration with the goal to remove complexity from our system and to provide an improved more efficient service.

RDS' mission is to holistically manage and reduce the complexity around reference data administration and delivery. RDS provide data consumers access to a golden copy of accurate and complete reference data which is delivered in a timely manner.

About this Role

As an RDS Senior software engineer you will be required to work collaboratively as part of a small local and wider global team to contribute to the delivery of the RDS strategic platform and data distribution framework, you will also be required to support this RDS platform within US hours. You will be involved in the delivery of the RDS book of work - including but not limited to; Strategic platform implementation, Data Quality improvement initiatives, Operational tooling implementation, build out of BI and visualization capabilities and support of regulatory initiatives. You will be expected to adopt a flexible attitude towards roles and responsibilities and to collaborate with other members of the team as needed in support of the overall RDS Program.
  • As a technical expert you will need to design and develop solutions to business and technical problems
  • Providing new innovative ideas and processes to drive business outcomes
  • Work with the BAs and users to understand and analyze the requirements, putting forward ideas and optimal solution proposals
  • Convert functional requirements into technical design, develop, test and deliver the solution within aggressive time frames
  • Be open to learn new technologies and cross-skill yourself for helping the delivery of the project
  • Support test cycles - Support users through UAT, managing and participate in project defect calls
  • Prepare functional requirements and coordinate with different stakeholders before sign offs
  • Liaise with Vendors on product related fixes

Skills:
  • Strong data background - Familiarity with Enterprise Data Management technology
  • Sound knowledge of Reference Data consumption patterns and use cases
  • Experience with databases such as Oracle
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications
  • Java development experience
  • Experience in Agile software development methodology
  • Review and influence design and standards of RDS platform
  • Fixed Income, Equities, Futures & Options product knowledge
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility regarding problem solving
  • Good communication skills; fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong team player; flexible, adaptable and able to work in fast paced environment
  • Able to share information, transfer knowledge and expertise to team members

Additional Skills:
  • Good foundation in relevant IT concepts, e.g. data distribution methods, data modeling, messaging, bi-temporality etc
  • Background in the Investment Banking Industry - In-depth knowledge and experience working within a Banking data organization
  • Usage of Test management tools like ALM; Issue and project tracking tool like Atlassian Jira
  • Familiarity with data analysis and data quality topics and tools
  • Familiarity with and Business Intelligence tools

Education / Qualifications Requirements:
  • Information Technology based or technical degree (desirable)
