Job Description: Lighting Supervisor
The Lighting Supervisor works with the Arts Education Director, Event Technicians and Theater show directors to ensure systematic, proactive, and efficient lighting support is provided for all assigned DPPS Arts productions, including full-scale plays and musicals, smaller arts showcases, concerts, and other events as needed.

- You have excellent communication (written and oral) and a track record of working collaboratively with others in artistic planning and production settings.
- You have the ability to proceed in the absence of clear and immediate answers to problems, are flexible enough to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
- You are comfortable working in non-conventional spaces. Many of our spaces are auditoriums that have been retrofitted with lighting equipment and require patience and creativity with limited systems.
What You’ll Do
- Remotely and in person, work closely with the members of arts production teams to ensure that lighting tech is planned efficiently for all DPPS Arts events, and supports the artistic goals of the show director/arts teacher.
- Assign event technicians to all DPPS Arts events that request support and are approved by the Arts Ed. Director.
- Work with the lighting designer/event technician to plan and execute the lighting design as needed for events.
- As needed, serve as lighting designer/event technician.
- Transfer shared tech equipment among schools as needed to ensure each campus has what it needs for upcoming tech rehearsals and events.
- Thought-partner with Arts Education director and arts teachers to support in determining tech-related equipment needs in each school.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- 2-3 years of work experience as a lighting designer/technician required.
- Experience as a production manager or stage manager preferred.
- Basic knowledge of audio tech preferred.
- Background check and clearance required.
- Working knowledge of conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures.
- Experience programming ETC consoles including the Ion, Express, Colorsource, and Smartfade, comfortable programming on a computer in Nomad for smaller events.
- Experience working with wireless DMX preferred.
- Ability to set up basic speaker systems; wireless handheld microphones; and program, edit, and level cues in Qlab preferred.
- Hourly rate is $30/hr.
- Annual contract is for 300 hours, with a maximum of weekly allotment of 29 hours on any given week. Busiest seasons are October-December and April-June, but events are happening consistently from November - June with planning starting in September. In a typical year, we have 20-25 events, divided among 2-3 technicians.
