The Role

THE ROLE Collaboratively develop optimized complex material handling automation solutions. Leads the application of DEMATIC and partner solutions as the technology expert in the design of transportation, storage and workstation systems for pallets, cases, totes and units, including software, hardware and controls systems. Designs are developed and communicated with material flow diagrams and 3D design tools.

The Solution Concept Developer will work in Dematic Corporation's Solution Development department and report to the Solution Consulting Manager, Solution Development North America.

WHAT YOU WILL DO Develop World Class Automated Material Handling Solutions
  • Review requirements inputs from and closely collaborate with Solution Consultants in the solution design
  • Creation of Material Flow(s) for solutions and validate equipment rates
  • Lead and create 3D models and proposal drawings
  • Apply standard subsystems and modules to solutions where appropriate

Develop Optimized Cost Estimates
  • Develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) costing
  • Obtain ROM costing approvals
  • Apply value engineering principals to optimize the effectiveness of the system where possible

Technology Expertise
  • Research and identify DEMATIC and partner technologies which drive client's success
  • Become expert in Dematic standard sub-systems and modules
  • Provide expert advice to all Solution Development Team in application of DEMATIC technology
  • Drive problem-solving efforts for project and process performance using LEAN principles

Collaborate and Communicate Technical Solutions
  • Understand client requirements
  • Communicate technological differentiators to clients and support presentations
  • Conduct iterative concept reviews
  • Collaborate with key project & solution team stakeholders by hosting and supporting concept, technical and cost reviews
  • Ensure the accurate representation of the solution in the proposal documents
  • Support internal technical and cost reviews

What We Are Looking For

Design Experience & Behaviors
  • 5+ years of industrial design experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in concepting with modern digital tools
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
  • Transition between meetings and tasks with purpose, determination and joy
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and new challenges
  • LEAN Certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 15-25%

Industry Experience
  • 3+ years of logistics and automation experience
  • Knowledgeable in distribution center operations
  • Expert level understanding of material handling technology
