This is an exciting opportunity to join our IoT, Intralogistics, and Cloud Platform development teams. We are building platforms to help standardize services for new Cloud and Intralogistics applications.

The Cloud Operations and Big Data Architecture Technical Lead is a key member of the Cloud and Software R&D teams. These teams build and maintain cloud-based software and IoT systems that address key business needs of our customers. The Cloud and IoT Architect works as a Scrum team member, applying practical experience in the key disciplines of software engineering (object-oriented and/or functional design and programming, configuration management, native cloud development, testing, etc.) to deliver incremental but complete pieces of business value to stakeholders. An architect not only demonstrates the skills and knowledge of a seasoned programmer but also growth and abilities beyond one particular programming language or paradigm, by showing capability and experience in one or more of language environments: Java/Scala, Python, GO Lang, advanced and modern JavaScript frameworks, and so on.

What We Are Looking For

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
  • Architect and develop software in modern enterprise-class languages and development platforms, with a strong emphasis on Java, Node.js and JavaScript, but also potentially mixing in Scala, Python as well as other new and emerging technologies as appropriate
  • Develop software confidence and reliability by creating testing artifacts, developing tooling and providing the communication needed to ensure modified artifacts are continuously releasable
  • Architect infrastructure as code using modern templating approaches, such as Terraform, with multi-cloud applications in mind
  • Architect efficient processing and storage of data for big data applications
  • Troubleshoot customer problems and provide a solution in a timely manner
  • Provide mentorship for junior members of the team
  • Agile/Scrum planning and process improvement
  • Provide architectural planning and detailed design for evolution of current products as well as creation of new products

Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science or related field; MS in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of software development and architecture experience, with a strong focus on application development
  • 2+ years experience with Java, JavaScript/Node.js and Python
  • 4+ years of experience using J2EE development against cluster-able application servers or enterprise frameworks is a plus
  • 2+ years of experience developing cloud applications using Azure
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps engineering
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps and DevSecOps in cloud environments, using modern templating systems such as Terraform
  • 8+ years of experience building medium to large-scale, mission critical and highly available production systems that directly support essential business and technical or operational functions
  • Experience with Big Data systems and technologies is a plus
  • Experience with one or more Cloud and on-premise IoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, or other major IoT platform providers
  • Strong working knowledge of XML/JSON, HTML, and ability to use modern JavaScript UI frameworks if required
  • Strong working knowledge of designing and implementing modular system interfaces using REST API
  • Strong working knowledge of developing systems with enterprise databases, including strong working knowledge of SQL and modern ORM tools
  • Strong working knowledge of non-SQL databases, including distributed non-SQL databases
