Job Summary:

Supports the goals of End User Technology Services relative to end user technology for the Deloitte US Firms. Works with a variety of endpoint technologies and management systems and architects/engineers quality hardware and software solutions to meet stated business requirements and needs. Supports the ongoing use of end user technologies and tools by providing third level support for standard hardware and software environments. This role will focus on virtualization technologies with an emphasis on VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure).

Illustrative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical contributions and input regarding design, development, production and support of end user environment hardware/software and related technology. This can include hardware configurations, OS and application policies, scripting, running management systems, or troubleshooting.
  • Prepares test plans and environments to test identified software and hardware for potential use within Deloitte environment.
  • Performs research using vendors, interviews and written materials for new and emerging technologies for input into recommendations around potential use within Deloitte. Research and analysis is also performed in seeking possible solutions for identified issues and problems in major platform changes and functional software deployments.
  • Works with other team members to develop and test firm images that are used on the majority of our 90,000 machines. Focus of configuration and testing would be in VDI or DaaS(Desktop as a Service) environments.
  • Develops use case scenarios showing proposed value of VDI and gathers metrics to demonstrate cost/time savings.
  • Collaborates with vendors and other ITS staff to troubleshoot issues, identify platforms that meet requirements, and insure regions/offices receive required support and services to provide end users with a stable, consistent platform.
  • Works with Call Center, functions and regions/offices to provide third level support on our hardware and software environments.
  • Continue pursuit of knowledge of vdi and virtualization management tools through seminars, webinars, technical publications, and product evaluations.
  • Trains other staff in the operations/maintenance and troubleshooting of VDI environments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Technical Skills:

Advanced knowledge/experience with Operating Systems (Windows/Mac OS), Network Protocols and Concepts; Advanced proficiency in virtualization skills (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) Advanced proficiency in at least one major VDI platform (VMware Horizon View); intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field; Minimum of 3 years of experience in an IT role is required along with specialized knowledge and/or experience in the end user technology and VDI/DaaS environments. Experience should involve maintaining and supporting end user platforms, as well as working with major virtualization environment, preferably VMware Horizon. Should have experience with software installs and system configurations, testing scripts/packages/software, and supporting, troubleshooting deployment/management systems within an end user environment.
