Role and Responsibilities

The Deloitte Financial Services Industry (FSI) Operations and Technology (O&T) practice helps our banking clients improve operating efficiency, effectiveness and control. Using sophisticated techniques, tools and methods, the Deloitte FSI O&T team plays an active role in transforming FSI institutions including transforming front and back office businesses and functions, designing and delivering operating models, reviewing and remediating regulatory change and implementing core systems and processes

Benefiting from direct client exposure and working with some of the top global and regional FSI practitioners, you will be given the opportunity to develop quickly, add real value for our clients and build credibility in the industry. As a Manager, you will develop your leadership capabilities by effectively managing teams for the delivery of client work whilst also playing an active role in the career development of more junior team members. You will work as part of a team of industry specialists providing consulting services to top tier banks and quickly build upon and/or develop industry knowledge and expertise in FSI businesses, operating models, processes, controls and regulation, architecture and large scale transformation.

To be successful in this role of working on complex and challenging projects, you will need to focus on the operations and technology as well as understand business strategy, issues and challenge and how to translate them into feasible solutions aligned with the banks overall strategy. Assignments will be focused across the full spectrum of FSI and will include:

  • Operating model design and delivery
  • Process design and rollout
  • Design and implementation of trading, corporate banking and/or treasury systems
  • Design and implementation of transaction banking systems (cash management, trade finance, payments)
  • Design and implementation of private banking systems
  • Design and implementation of retail banking and credit card systems
  • Design and implementation of market and/or credit risk systems
  • IT strategy
  • Cost reduction
  • Risk and regulation and controls
  • Business process strategy and redesign
  • Product control
  • Vendor solution support
  • Market infrastructure

Responsibilities

You will have responsibility for:

  • Understanding client O&T needs and translating them into feasible solutions aligned with business strategy
  • Designing, improving or transforming core banking processes and technology
  • Preparing new processes and/or business requirements for front, middle and back office functions of banking clients
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them and a clear understanding of the firm's commitment to creating a more inclusive culture
  • Articulating business requirements to technical audiences
  • Understanding of key issues within information management

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • 4+ years of Big 4 or similar consulting roles preferred and 4+ years of FSI experience in retail, commercial, private or investment banking
  • Functional alignment to Ops, Tech, Finance and/ or Product Control
  • Knowledge of banking products for transaction, investment or private banking products
  • Knowledge of front, middle or back office processes for transaction, investment or private banking
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven history of taking initiative and handling diversity
  • Good problem solving, analytical and structured thinking skills and experience in distilling complex problems into a simpler set of problem statements
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Full travel mobility
  • Experience managing a sales effort and sales pipeline
  • Well versed in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Project
  • Has managed team of 5+ persons
  • Experience in counseling and coaching junior resource
